Empowering Buremba Through Yoghurt and Ghee Skills
In Buremba Sub-County, Uganda, dairy farming is a way of life, yet many families struggle with low earnings due to a lack of value-added skills. Recognizing this, Buremba Community Initiative (BCI), with support from the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) and the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), launched a transformative Yoghurt and Ghee Training program from February 15th to May 4th, 2021.
Held at Buremba Community School, the initiative empowered women and out-of-school youth with practical dairy processing skills. Participants learned the science of fermentation, flavoring techniques, and hygiene standards to produce market-ready yoghurt and ghee. Beyond technical knowledge, the program fostered confidence, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking, enabling trainees to turn their skills into sustainable income sources.
This initiative aligns with BCI’s mission of self-help and sustainable development. By equipping individuals with valuable skills, we’re not only transforming lives but also driving economic growth in Buremba and beyond.
The program’s success highlights the power of vocational education. With more support, we can expand our reach, empowering even more vulnerable communities to break free from poverty.
Join us in this journey. Together, we can build a future where skills lead to economic independence and lasting change.
