Today the poverty poses the most important development challenge in developing countries like in Uganda and specific Districts of Kiruhura and Mbarara, to address this pressing social, economic & political issue, the participatory development approaches (PAR & PRA) are identified as effective tools for sustainable and long term development of Poorest and marginalized section of society. Buremba  Community Initiative has taken the challenge to play a proactive role in initiating the supplementing efforts for eradication of poverty by increasing livelihood options.

Buremba Community Initiative (BCI) is also engaged in development projects as a medium-sized NGO working to help people with disabilities, aged, youth, orphans, vulnerable children, women and teenagers, to reduce poverty and improve the livelihoods of poor communities. Through a number of activities so far undertaken, BCI has established itself as a “leading NGO and key actor” within western Uganda, contributing to sustainable livelihoods of the resource-poor, good governance in development resources management, sustainable development and poverty reduction among the poor communities and the entire country Uganda.
We thus play a complementary role with the existing government efforts, as an external agent (catalyst), in community development initiatives and the new co-management system and thus contributing to the overall national development goals/agendas.
